A genius at 100 BPM
Nicolas Jaar returns to the festival by popular acclaim, and this time will be playing at Sónar by Night. He is a prolific artist, with a unique style who has not stopped developing since his visit last year. Despite his youth (he is only 22 years old), Nico takes everything in his stride. Always operating at around 100 BPM, this original producer creates dense and floorfilling atmospheres that are completely unconventional, in a style he calls "blue-wave". His tracks contain a strange and hypnotic combination of factors that includes measured minimal techno, house with organic textures, sonic collages with his own voice and influences ranging from African jazz to dubstep. Slowly but surely, and with plenty of good ideas, his first long player, "Space Is Only Noise", received high praise on both sides of the Atlantic.
