From New York, Aurora Halal has shaped her own psychedelic take on techno, fluid yet precise, combining dark sensuality, emotional depth and an almost playful edge. She’s also a cornerstone of the New York underground, thanks to Sustain-Release, the festival she founded 10 years ago, and Mutual Dreaming, her influential party series, always self-run and community-organised.

Although she’s best known for her DJ sets, at Sónar 2027 she’ll be presenting one of her rare hardware live sets. A unique chance to see her in action surrounded by all her analogue gear.

Few artists have managed to make electronic music feel as intimate, and at the same time as universal, as Simon Green, better known as Bonobo. The British producer, musician and DJ’s career includes two UK Top 5 albums (Migration and Fragments), millions of streams, collaborations with artists such as Erykah Badu and Damon Albarn, and multiple BRIT and Grammy nominations.

In September 2026, he released Distance In Static on Ninja Tune, a record featuring a cast as diverse as Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya and Ichiko Aoba. With lyrics in English, Urdu and Japanese, historic Iranian samples and guzheng recordings, it took shape across Los Angeles, Tokyo and London, before being completed at Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch.

His live show has redefined what electronic music can be on stage, taking him from the Sydney Opera House, Red Rocks and the Royal Albert Hall, where he played a historic five-night residency, to festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella and Fuji Rock. For his fifth Sónar appearance, he’ll be presenting his brand-new live show, designed by Pierre Claude, the creative force behind live shows for Air, Gesaffelstein and Phoenix, among others. Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the festival’s 34th edition.

One of the great names in contemporary electronic music returns to Sónar with a new album and a new live show

Few people have been as important to French electronic music as Busy P. Pedro Winter discovered the Parisian rave scene in 1992 and, in the mid-90s, his Hype parties at Le Palace saw the birth of what became known as the French Touch, with Daft Punk, Dimitri from Paris and Motorbass behind the decks. For 12 years he was Daft Punk’s manager and confidant, and in 2003 he founded Ed Banger Records, the label that launched Justice, SebastiAn, Mr. Oizo, Breakbot and Uffie. As a DJ, he has played the world’s biggest festivals and shared the decks with Erol Alkan, James Murphy and Laurent Garnier; in 2024, he took part in the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

Alongside him will be Girl Ultra, a Mexico City-born singer, songwriter and creative who has spent years breaking down the boundaries of Latin r&b. Her world has always moved between the club, overdriven guitars and the after-hours. Her new album, RRRomeo, produced with Chromeo, is all about dancefloor sweat, indie sleaze spirit and new wave synths.

His experience and her audacity promise an eclectic, unapologetic set. Busy P returns to Sónar for the fifth time, extending a long and fruitful relationship with the festival; Girl Ultra, meanwhile, makes her debut. Let the party begin.

Some DJs become legends and decide to live off it. Carl Cox isn’t one of them. With more than 30 years in the game, the British DJ is as active as ever, championing club culture wherever he goes.

A pioneer of the UK rave explosion, he hit the charts in the early 90s, but soon headed back to the clubs that raised him and has been wedded to techno ever since. He hasn’t been back since… until now. Missing his long-awaited return to the festival simply isn’t an option.

Welcome to a story that began without even being planned. Collabs3000 was born in 2001 at Frankfurt’s legendary U60311 club. Speedy J was making his first visit to Chris Liebing’s residency, and what was meant to be just another night turned into an improvised session for four hands: Liebing mixed out of Speedy J’s live set, while Speedy J responded to every record the German dropped. That night is now part of the city’s clubbing folklore.

It didn’t take long for them to lock themselves away in Speedy J’s Rotterdam studio and record “Collabs 300” (2004), an intense slice of machine funk that helped define the techno sound of the early 2000s. After taking over SonarCar for three nights with STOOR Live last year, Speedy J returns to Sónar alongside Chris Liebing, who makes his festival debut. Together, they’ll once again redefine what it means to improvise techno music on stage.

Few artists occupy such a singular place in contemporary music as Cornelius, the project of Japanese musician, producer and composer Keigo Oyamada. Emerging in the early 90s after the break-up of the influential Tokyo pop group Flipper’s Guitar, he found international fame with Fantasma (1997), a cult record that blended psychedelic pop, electronics, musique concrète, hip hop and the avant-garde, earning him comparisons with The Beach Boys, Beck and the Beastie Boys. Almost 30 years later, its B-side “Typewrite Lesson” has found new life thanks to TikTok and the support of artists such as Rosalía.

It was followed by albums such as Point, Sensuous and Mellow Waves, along with collaborations and remixes for Blur, Beck, MGMT, James Brown and Yoko Ono.
Few names command as much consensus in techno as Donato Dozzy. For more than two decades, the Italian has been honing a sound as hypnotic as it is atmospheric, the kind that takes you on a journey you never saw coming. Unbothered by trends, he balances DJ sets with a steady stream of releases on his label Spazio Disponibile, installations for museums and public spaces, and collaborations with classical musicians, visual artists and like-minded producers. From his base in Bristol, with his label Timedance as his headquarters, he has bent the conventions of techno and soundsystem culture with near-surgical precision. His latest EP, Question Mark, distils his current sound: hypermodern club music, built on cutting-edge synthesizers and carrying the DNA of UK dub.

One works with patience and immersion; the other, with tension and impact.
For Angel and Lulu Prost, dance music has always sounded like home. Raised in St. Louis and now based in New York, they grew up steeped in the catharsis of EDM’s golden age. Since the mid-80s, when he started DJing in Madrid’s most underground clubs, Oscar Mulero’s career has hit milestones like legendary sessions at The Omen and About Discipline and Education, the first mix CD ever released in Spain.

He has released music on labels such as Tresor, Token and Semantica, played the most prestigious clubs and festivals in the world, and built two key platforms for Spanish techno: Warm Up Recordings and PoleGroup.

While his experimental ambient project ‘Monochrome’ came to Sónar in 2018, his cerebral, dark, precise, and uncompromising techno hasn’t echoed through the festival’s walls since 2007. And frankly, it’s been long enough.

Spain’s techno legend brings his sound back to Sónar 20 years later

Few figures have balanced underground credibility and mass appeal quite like Peggy Gou. Born in South Korea and educated at the London College of Fashion, she moved to Berlin in 2014, where she immersed herself in club culture and shaped an emotional sound built for the dancefloor. EPs such as Once and Moment cemented her place in the scene, while her debut album, I Hear You, took her to another level thanks to “(It Goes Like) Nanana”, one of the most recognisable dance tracks of 2023.

Her world reaches far beyond the booth. In 2019, she founded Gudu Records, the label where she released her hit “Starry Night” and through which she champions emerging talent from around the world, while her brand Peggy Goods has become a cultural platform bridging music and fashion. A cover star for Vogue and Billboard, in 2025 she contributed to the soundtrack of the film F1 with “D.A.N.C.E” and, in 2026, closed the Australian Open in front of more than 10,000 people.

Her relationship with Sónar is a story of shared success. In 2027, she comes home with new music in tow and the energy of someone who knows she’s at the peak of her career… for now.

For years we’ve known her as one third of The xx and as an understated songwriter. But on her own, Romy has found another way to express herself: more expansive, more danceable, more luminous, without losing her unmistakable sensitivity.

Her debut album, Mid Air, was celebrated for its joyful exploration of queer relationships, somewhere between dancefloor energy and personal reflection, and became a landmark moment for queer visibility in pop. Along the way, she has collaborated with names such as Fred again.., Madonna and Kylie Minogue, and established herself as a DJ, with sets that draw on the history of queer club culture and move between house and trance.

As The xx return after an eight-year hiatus, Romy makes her Sónar debut with one of her magical DJ sets, where music remains a shared and inclusive space.

From the intimacy of The xx to the euphoria of the dancefloor: one of today’s most radiant figures in electronic music -finally- comes to Sónar

If anyone has turned audacity into an art form, it is Tokischa. From Santo Domingo, the rapper, singer and songwriter has taken dembow out of the barrios and into the spotlight. She blends it with reggaeton and rap, adding explicit, unfiltered lyrics that celebrate pleasure, sexual freedom and female power.

Her rise has been unstoppable. In 2021, “Linda”, with Rosalía, put her on the international map; a year later, the pair reunited on “La Combi Versace”, from Motomami. Since then, she’s shared tracks with J Balvin, Madonna (who embraced dembow on “Hung Up on Tokischa”) and A$AP Rocky, with whom she released “Flackito Jodye” in early 2026. Tokischa finally playing Sónar is one of the big stories of this edition. Get ready for a show as intense, free and defiant as she is.

Few artists have shaped a generation as deeply as Yung Lean. In the early 2010s, the Swede went viral with his Sad Boys and an internet-born aesthetic, melancholic and ironic, that would go on to define cloud rap and inspire a whole new wave of artists. That early fame nearly destroyed him; today, more than a decade later, he’s living one of the best moments of his career.

In recent years, he has released Psykos, his long-awaited joint album with Bladee, and Jonatan, an intimate, personal record released under his real first name. In 2026, he also starred in Storm, Romain Gavras’s short film for GENER8ION, which became a global phenomenon and led to his US television debut at the VMAs. His influence reaches well beyond music: fashion, film and contemporary art are all fighting over him too.

After playing Sónar in 2016 and 2018, he returns with a new live show and a maturity and confidence we’ve rarely seen from him on stage. Without a doubt, one of the big highlights of Sónar 2027.
