Experimental techno and generative visuals combine in a show that feels designed for Sónar

Few in Spain see techno the way 30drop does. Over five albums and countless EPs, the Barcelona-based producer and composer has explored the most ambient and abstract zones of the genre, crafting a universe where minimalist, spatial and highly conceptual techno meets experimental music.

Amongst these albums are Soroban and Photosynthetic Zone Manifesto, a pair of works inspired by the universe, futurism, philosophy, science and experimentation. Created with scientific input from Meritxell Rosell (holder of a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) and musical guidance by Jeff Mills, they were released on Mills’ own label Axis Records.

Insight Into Mind and Space is a live interpretation of these records, with 30drop joined by Barcelona visual artist Santiago, a ‘digital craftsman’ who uses code as a creative and poetic tool. Together, they’ve crafted a live show that adds real-time generative visuals to the music, responding live to the sound output.

Without a doubt, a show that is designed for Sónar: combining music, science, technology and innovation to create a deep, immersive listening experience.
