Producer, singer, songwriter, visual artist, DJ... Nia Archives does it all. Still only 26, the young artist is going to add another title – bandleader – to her list when she brings her new full-band show to Sónar 2026.
Growing up in the North of England, she started listening to jungle - as well as dub, reggae, dancehall and UK hip hop - with her grandmother. Now, she’s reinventing the genre, bringing it a wider audience without compromising on her DIY principles. After breaking through with her debut EP Forbidden Feelingz and then finding her voice on Sunrise Bang Ur Head Against tha Wall she delivered her debut album Silence Is Loud an emotional blend of amen breaks, lyrical soul-searching and r&b hooks. Her voice is the key ingredient – that same down-to-earth, yet technically brilliant tone that Amy Winehouse found – but her production remains as sharp and clean as ever, a throwback to jazz-obsessed 90s producers.
It’s the kind of music that deserves a full band treatment, so we can’t wait to see what she’s prepared for Sónar 2026.
