You can tell a lot from a name.Cutemobb captures the energy of the poly-talented Catalan collective pretty perfectly: they might roll nearly 20 deep at time, but there’s a softness at the heart of the project. Blending trap, afrobeats, r&b and reggaeton, they make music for lovers rather than fighters, centred around by a revolving team of producers including Chineseguy2021, Hary Safu, iseekarlo, Young Wolf Beatz, bexnil, and Batuka. A multi-instrumentalists and musicians, they give the collective’s work an organic, musical feel that helps them stand apart from the rest of Spanish trap and r&b.
Founding member LEÏTI - a highlight of Sónar 2024 - might be the most recognisable name due to his solo work as a rapper and actor, but new album Epifania, the collective’s first since 2020’s Cute Tapes, puts the collective to the front - literally so on the cover. The voices and lyrics of Alu, Diara, Dunia Morad, Jesse James, O.S.O. and Sam Davies are all over the 14 track recording, tackling late nights, early mornings, struggles, triumphs, friendship and love.
If there’s such a thing as an all-star trap group, then this is it. Loose, friendly and free-flowing, Epifania is part of the same lineage as classic Motown soul records, UK lover’s rock and street-soul. This will be a rare chance to catch some of Spanish trap and r&b’s brightest talents, all together on stage.
